Current Security Situation At All Airports
Dear Customer
Issued 2nd July 2007
Following the recent incident at Glasgow Airport, all airports have introduced additional security measures and we are therefore advising that all passengers arrive for check-in at least 3 hours prior to the departure time.
Passengers are warned that there may be delays in reaching airport terminals by car, as dropping off and picking-up in front of all airports is severely restricted. Passengers may find it easier to use public transport or to park at the short term parking. We would also recommend that you allow additional time for your journey to the airport.

Whilst we have only received official notification from European Airports that the following security restrictions apply, in order to avoid disappointment, we recommend that you apply the following to flights out of ALL airports, or that you check in advance with the relevant consulate.
- All liquids must be in individual containers not greater than 100ml capacity. They must be placed in one transparent re-sealable bag, no larger than 20cm x 20cm (8" x 8") in size, and fit comfortably inside the bag so it can be fastened closed
- Only one bag per passenger is allowed. The bag must be clear and re-sealable, such as 'ziplock' bags or bags with pressable seals. Larger bags or bags that are sealable, such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed
- Each passenger must remove their clear plastic bag from their hand baggage and present the bag at Security Control
- Liquids in containers of more than 100ml capacity can be packed in your hold baggage
- Exemptions to the liquids rule applies for liquid medicines accompanied by a prescription or medical certificate and baby milk/food required during the flight
IMPORTANT NOTE - Neither Egyptian Airports or XL Airways are providing clear re-sealable bags required for the carriage of liquids in your cabin baggage.
Duty free items purchased at airports of on board must be placed in a transparent sealed bag with the receipt stapled inside. Please be reminded that heightened security restrictions remain at all UK airports. Following the Department for Transport's announcement on 2 November, passengers can now carry a limited quantity of liquids, ie gels, lotions, pastes, liquid cosmetics, foams and foodstuffs, in their hand baggage when going through airport security checkpoints. We recommend that most items are placed in your hold baggage and only items of value or that you require whilst onboard the aircraft are carried in your hand baggage. Cabin Baggage Each passenger is permitted to carry ONE item of cabin baggage through the airport security search point. This item should weigh no more than 5 kilos with the total dimensions of 115 cms (45 inches). Handbags may be carried within the single item of cabin baggage, but not in addition to it. All items carried by passengers will be X-ray screened. Cameras, (including digital, small electrical items such as mobile phones, MP3 players and game consoles can remain in the bag for screening. However, all laptops and large electrical items must be removed from the bag and placed in a separate tray. We strongly advise you to pack any liquids that you don't need whilst onboard the aircraft in your hold baggage. However, if you do need to travel with liquids, please be aware of the following restrictions which apply to all liquids you wish to carry through an airport security checkpoint:
- All liquids must be in individual containers not greater than 100ml capacity. They must be placed in one transparent re-sealable transparent bag, no larger than 20cm x 20cm (8" x 8") in size, and fit comfortably inside the bag so it can be fastened closed
- Only one bag per passenger is allowed. The bag must be clear and re-sealable, such as 'ziplock' bags or bags with pressable seals. Larger bags or bags that are sealable, such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed
- Each passenger must remove their clear plastic bag from their hand baggage and place it in on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening
- Liquids in containers of more than 100ml capacity can be packed in your hold baggage
- Exemptions to the liquids rule applies for liquid medicine or baby milk/food
IMPORTANT NOTE - XL Airways are not providing clear re-sealable bags required for the carriage of liquids in your cabin baggage.

Potential Delays XL Airways is doing everything possible to ensure on time departures. However, due to the current situation delays are inevitable, some of which may be significant. Passengers should ensure that they configure their luggage in line with the new requirements before arriving at the airport and must allow themselves sufficient extra time. All XL Airways flights have operated during this period, and there has been no need to cancel any of our services to this point. We will continue to do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition through the airport, but we would ask passengers to be patient and to cooperate fully with all airport security requests.
