About the XL Airways Fleet
XL Airways currently uses Boeing aircraft for all short-haul routes, including fifteen Boeing 737-800s, and for the long-haul Caribbean routes Boeing 767-300, due to be replaced in Autumn 2008 with new Airbus A330s. With the delivery of two brand-new Boeing 737-900 aircraft in Spring 2008, XL Airways will have the youngest fleet of aircraft in the UK.
Efficiency for the passenger
The remarkable efficiency of the B737-800 and 900 aircraft allows XL Airways to limit environmental impact as well as cost, and subsequently pass savings along to our passengers in the form of lower fares. For example, the B737-900er, with its enhanced aerodynamic package, can carry 15% more passengers over the same distance for the same fuel load when compared to the standard B737.
XL fully supports industry-wide environmental incentives, like the inclusion of aviation into the European Emissions Trading Scheme (the largest multi-national, greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme in the world), and the 'Single Sky' policy, an initiative to improve co-ordination of EU airspace to improve safety, and reduce air pollution.
The XL Leisure Group is committed to taking action to ensure future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the holiday destinations that we have today
